100 67 Things About Jen

I’ve seen the 100 Things pages out there… thought I’d put my own up since I have some quirks, too.

  1. My heart and life belong to God because Jesus died for me.
  2. I know my husband is the only man on Earth who completes me and I love him.
  3. I’m trying to love him with every action I decide to carry out.
  4. We have two boys; I’m a mom.
  5. And I knit. How I find time to knit is beyond me.
  6. I also crochet but don’t enjoy it as much as knitting.
  7. Scrapbooking is not for me because I make too big of a mess. I’d rather make photo books online.
  8. Lavender is my favorite aroma for soaps and personal products but I don’t care for Bath & Body Works products because I never seem to use anything all the way up besides hand soap, so it doesn’t seem like a good value to me.
  9. I go through a lot of hand soap. (See #4)
  10. My camera is almost always with me though I don’t seem to ever take as many pictures as I would like to be taking.
  11. Photoshop is my favorite way to spend time.
  12. I am a switcher. Yes, I now prefer and use macs.
  13. I have a very dark freckle on my left foot below my ankle and my baby has a matching freckle on his right foot in the same location. We are freckle buddies.
  14. My opinions are very strong and form instantly.
  15. There have been potential friendships destroyed by my opinions, and I know it. Ergo, I have very few friends and many acquaintances.
  16. I am addicted to sweets and salt but I’m underweight, go figure. My BMI is 17.8 which classifies me as officially underweight, but not by much.
  17. I’m in desperate need of a haircut and prefer my hair chin-length but am growing it out to avoid the expense of having to go in for haircuts every six weeks. Yay for short hair again!
  18. I’m also in desperate need of new glasses, stylish ones, ones with both arms and little nose-pads, unlike my current two pairs of glasses. T2’s solved this issue.
  19. Scraping my index fingernails against the inner cuticles of my thumbs is my nervous habit. Therefore, when I’m stressed, my thumbs bleed.
  20. I also touch my chin when I’m stressed which causes zits on my chin. Gross but true.
  21. The baby nurses frequently so I’ve learned all the keyboard shortcuts to navigate through firefox so I can still surf without needing to use my wacom and pen to navigate.
  22. I sleep on my side, though I never did before my first pregnancy.
  23. I can’t sleep unless there is a fan on.
  24. It takes me a good 45 minutes to an hour to fall asleep at night. Every night.
  25. My favorite drink of all time is a cherry-watermelon slush from Sonic and I look for the cherry every time I order one. When they don’t add the cherry, I am disappointed.
  26. Coffee is not for me (blech!) though I love the aroma of coffee.
  27. I’m learning to like plain iced tea, though I still can’t stand hot tea or flavored teas.
  28. I generally don’t drink alcohol, but I’ve been known to enjoy a glass of merlot with dinner on occasion and a good beer once every few years.
  29. Since I don’t drink in general, I’ve never been drunk. Tipsy, yes, briefly one evening after my band got 4’s in sightreading at UIL (5 is the worst, 1 is the best) but never drunk.
  30. Pier 1 used to be one of my favorite stores until I had kids. Now that I have kids, I never shop.
  31. Most of my friends are other women who had their first kid in July 2005. We all “met” online to discuss our pregnancies and have kept in touch. We communicate on a daily basis. I’ve met seven of them — in Chicago!
  32. I can still remember the name of my first crush in the 2nd grade. Raymond Leroy Livingston.
  33. I haven’t googled him.
  34. The only thing I have left from previous relationships is a bottle of Banana Republic perfume that was given to me after said relationship ended. Threw that out the other day. Wow, no physical evidence that I ever had a relationship before David.
  35. Hot chocolate made with milk and at a temperature of no more than 120ºF (not very hot, in other words) and covered with marshmallows is a very good thing.
  36. One of my favorite shirts to wear is from David’s fifth grade class. It’s very 80’s!
  37. I can’t cook very well; everything ends up burned, even vegetables and mac-n-cheese so it’s a good thing that I married a great cook.
  38. It takes me a very long time to get anything done because I tend to want to be all perfectionist about it, even though I am far from perfectionist material.
  39. Coke and Dr Pepper are liked equally by me. I prefer coke from a fountain and dr pepper from the can, and Dublin Dr Pepper over anything whenever the opportunity presents itself.
  40. When at a movie theater (which is becoming further and farther between), I always get a Mr. Pibb (coke’s version of the dr).
  41. The last movie we saw in the theater was Bee Movie, over Thanksgiving when the kids were napping at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. I had a Pibb.
  42. Since we can afford neither the time nor the money to frequent theaters (plus we have a problem with kids being in the theaters) we love Netflix.
  43. We watch everything (movies, tv) with captions. We started when we realized the movie was waking up the baby (then, James) and have kept it up ever since.
  44. I miss captions when they’re turned off and continually ask, “What’d they say?”
  45. I’m a trained clarinetist, though I haven’t played since May of ‘06.
  46. My first real job (besides waiting tables, boy was that fun) was teaching music prek-8th grades at two private Catholic schools in Illinois. One was in downtown Chicago and the other in Bensenville.
  47. I miss riding the L to work when it’s cloudy, cold, and foggy. I never thought I’d ever miss that, but I do.
  48. I don’t like plums, but I love prunes.
  49. La Madeleine is my favorite place to eat.
  50. David and I celebrate the anniversary of our first date, February 2, 1996; this year it’s been thirteen years! On our first date, we walked around an icy frozen Baylor campus.
  51. Have I mentioned that I love sewing but it stresses me out? See number 38.
  52. I stay up way too late at night.  Not now that I’m pregnant… bedtime can’t come early enough.
  53. Oh, I’m always cold. Even in the middle of summer. See # 16.
  54. Frozen green grapes are one of my favorite snacks.  Maybe that’s why I’m always cold?
  55. Yes, I’ll admit it, I color my hair though my favorite shade is discontinued and I haven’t been able to get close to it since.
  56. Every joint in my body pops therefore I am not very good at sneaking around.
  57. I don’t have a favorite flower.  I do like orchids, but I don’t have a favorite.
  58. Waiting, for anything, is not a strength of mine.
  59. I think that’s why I am a horrible cook; I hate waiting for the food to be ready.
  60. Yes, I have the computer on all the time.
  61. I can’t go back to sleep when David leaves for a Band trip at 3 am so every time he has a school trip, I lose about four to five hours of sleep.
  62. I can load a whole pickup truck worth of junk by myself, even when I’m pregnant.
  63. I have given birth both the hospital route with drugs and naturally in a birthing center.
  64. With this third pregnancy, I’m continually dreaming that there are twins in there… hmmm…
  65. When my kids are sick, my heart is broken.
  66. Besides having sick kids, my heart has only been broken one other time.  It has never healed.  I’m not sure that I want it to heal because I feel that it gives me a great deal of compassion for others on a very deep level.
  67. Though I may not show many people that side of me, if you are a friend of mine and hurting, I hurt for you.
gimme some time to finish — this is tougher than it seems!
