family of five

Lowell and I seem to be kindred spirits. We’ve both been losing hair all over the place, we have matching freckles on our feet (I know, it’s odd) and we’re both very moody people. Lowell’s nearly bald now but his new hair is growing in and shines a golden color though it is still dark brown. I just noticed yesterday that I’ve got new fuzzy hair growing in as well.

He rolled over for the first time today from his belly to his back. Just thought I’d share that bit of info in this random place.

The Fourth of July was great. James LOVED the fireworks (”Boom! Pop!”) and was not afraid of them or the sparklers or smoke bombs or any of it one bit. Lowell pretty much slept through the little show in the cul de sac where we were visiting friends until one really loud screamer. We had a great time. It was the latest James had ever stayed up in his life and I think it was 10:30 or 11:00 p.m. before he got to bed. We’re just now getting back to normal bedtime routines, though it is taking him forever to fall asleep. (which also might be due in part to taking away his binky).

Saturday we headed down to Northwest Houston (Cypress/Spring area) for Jen Taylor’s wedding. In hindsight, it would have been much easier overall to just stay home. We didn’t know as many people there as we’d hoped (in other words, it wasn’t so much a TBS wedding as I was expecting) but we did get to catch up with a few friends. James and Lowell were very well behaved during the service and the church was very well prepared for families with small children. (Quiet rooms with glass walls and toys so parents could have their children with them and still see the service as well as crayons and paper at the entrances, for example.)

The reception was much less toddlerproof. I’m glad we randomly sat on the end served dinner first because James was turning into a monkey and Lowell was starving by the time we finished our meal. We had to go. We had to get out of there and use up some toddler energy (which equals noise, for those of you who don’t know 2 year olds) and get some milk in Lowell (which equals nursing since he still is refusing bottles), so we headed back to the hotel where James got to go swimming and Lowell got to eat. No pictures because the boys were more important than pictures. I do wish we’d have gotten to see Jen at her wedding, and I wish we had been able to have some cake.

Tomorrow we get to tour a firestation for the first time and I’m glad David is home with me to help out with the boys. :-) I’m hoping to get some good pictures of our playgroup visit to the firestation if I can get a free hand.
