First Post

Yep, this is my first post without the use of BLOGGER. It is kind of sad in a way to leave what I was so familiar with. I will be striving to make this appear just as I had in BLOGGER with the template that I worked so hard to make, then fix. Leaving BLOGGER, though, is something I feel is necessary at this time… I have been unable to publish anything in the last five days and good customer service would have addressed this issue by now (if not by replying to my help request, then by making a service announcement that some of us may need to do something specific to address the issue and fix it all up). Through the forums on TCH, I have learned that I am not the only one experiencing publishing problems with BLOGGER and haloscan. At least now, I do not have to rely on several different places just to have a blog and comments too.

Please be patient with my experimentation of this new way of blogging. I have a to-do list which goes something like this:

• Fix the Gallery as far as code goes. (It has two heads and two bodies… my little gallery monster!) DONE! :: May 6, 2004
• Get this WordPress to appear within the design of the other pages or redesign the entire rest of the site to work around what WordPress looks like (believe me, I do not want to redesign the rest of the site… namely, my little gallery monster). DONE! :: May 9, 2004 (with a redesign anyhow!)
• Import all the old posts from BLOGGER format to this format and make sure that the files in my FileManager are appropriately organized. DONE! :: May 9, 2004

I have just found one little thing, one nuance, that is frustrating me already… I do hope that this is not the way of things to come. When I use the “Quicktags,” this window, the one I’m typing in, is reset to the top line. Of course, the tags are down a little, so every time I use a tag, I have to re-scroll-down to the bottom of the typey-window to keep going where I was. I wonder if I’m just stupid. Oh! I am stupid… I could just keep typing… the window moves to the top, but the cursor stays at the bottom. Duh. Well, more later folks… now to add a big fat comment on my davejenbarnes.com/index.html page to guide you here. Or I could learn how to do a re-direct! Naw, I’ll fix the index.html page. At least I already know how to do that. I’ve done enough learning for one night! Setting up the mySQL database for this was stressful enough for a newbie like me!
