Pictures from Memorial Day at the Capitol
After looking at our food budget and determining that we had enough for a lunch downtown, we first headed to The Shady Grove for some good eating. Someday we are going to take our parents there because I have GOT to go back for some of their tortilla-queso catfish!!! M-mm-boy! Before we headed into the restaurant, we had a little fun with the camera and here are two of those pictures…
David and I only spent an hour in downtown Austin on Memorial Day. Only an hour because the unbelievable heat was wilting our every desire to stay longer and we had to make it back to the car before we were both reduced to a 99° puddle of goo.
All-in-all, it was a fun trip. We were able to see a unicyclist on the Congress Ave. bridge, drive by several Starbucks which were all closed, walk through a music-related shop with all kinds of expensive musical knick-nacks and paintings, walk up to and into the capitol building, take several pictures, and sweat profusely under the hot Texas sun… we had a good time.
Later in the day, we heard on the news that a freak hail storm blew through downtown and cooled things off a bit. 99°s and hail… Austin IS wierd.
Postscript: More pictures of our day trip are available in the gallery.
