The 4 ultrasound pictures are in the gallery:
I cannot describe to you the incredible reassurance I feel at having seen that there is, indeed, a baby in there. I was starting to doubt because I haven’t felt the little person move in a few weeks and I still have not gained any weight.
Here are the stats:
weight gain so far: negative 3 poundsmy blood pressure: 120 over 70
baby’s heartrate: 142
baby’s guestimated weight: 11 oz
baby’s gender: unknown! :-)
So, I’m still not gaining any weight… but if the doctor’s not too worried, neither am I!
This little baby is so loved already. I am flabberghasted at how many gifts the littlest Barnes has already received and how thoughtful family has been. Thank you all for your loving gestures and cards and gifts and thoughts, and especially your prayers.
… to my WordPress woes, we have 1 ultrasound picture to present to the world.
Hop on over to the pregnancy blog which is NOT a WordPress blog (had to have at least one thing that I don’t need to maintain) to check out the baby Barnes.
Here’s a preview. It’s not very good quality because I had to take a picture of it with a digital camera… I can’t find the cable to connect the scanner to the computer.
The ultrasound tech and the doctor know what we’re having, but our baby is still a *surprise* to us, so no bugging us about what we’re having!!! We don’t know!!!

I will be back hopefully tonight to scan in the other 3 pictures we got… they’re the 3D kind, so they’re not the prettiest pictures, but you can see some cool things.
Apparantly I have a bum-version of the WP 1.5 I just uploaded. I don’t know what to do about it or how to fix it, so I’m going to leave it as it is until I figure some of the stuff out. I have downloaded the software 3 times and tried 3 times to upgrade only to have the problem persist… the same complicated commenting process…
And I am not the only one with this problem. View my profile on this wordpress forum entry by clicking “Member” and take a look at the last 3 or so replies I’ve posted…

Anyhow, I won’t have any time to devote to this until later, maybe some time this weekend, but not at least until the middle of March for any decent blocks of time.
Check out the pregnancy journal later tomorrow for ultrasound pictures (if we get any)… I will be in touch.
Our ultrasound is tomorrow! I can’t wait!
holy cow, oh my gosh, dagnabit to pieces, etc.
Are you ready for the most painful, complicated, and inconvient way to leave a comment? Then read on:
Okay… so you want to leave a comment. Click on the link below which should take you to a page where the comments look like this:

Click the blue “Logout >>” link which will take you to a page which looks like this:

Click the link “Register” which will take you to a page whick looks like this:

Fill in the fields, follow the prompts from WordPress until you get to a page that says Registration Complete. Go check your email for a password, and return back to this site, enter the information and click “Login” which will take you to a page which looks like this:

Here you may change your profile information, password to something easy to remember, change email address, etc. but it will finally let you make a comment, as long as you follow the “view site >>” link at the very top, left side of your user account page. This should take you back to the weblog where you can click the comment link under the post you wanted to comment on, and finally be able to leave a comment.
Isn’t it truly rediculous that I had to research this and figure it out? I mean, wouldn’t an easier way be to tell people that they have to register and login in order to leave a comment on this blog. I love the spam prevention measures but this is a bit extreme and very misleading. For hours and hours I thought my WordPress was broken. You woudn’t believe how many times I downloaded a new version of it to replace the wp-comments-post.php file! I’m going to be pushing for something between this exteme and the “anybody can comment” extreme. Where is a nice middle ground, WordPress?
It may have taken me awhile, but I finally got it upgraded. Welcome to the default layout of Wordpress 1.5 … now, it will take me even longer to figure out the bells and whistles of this here software and to get it customized. Oh well, so much for the chili peppers!
I did the upgrade in about 35 minutes uploading each file one-at-a-time (we don’t have an ftp client on our compy) once I backed up the MySQL database from phpMyAdmin and copied all of the WP 1.2 files into a backup folder. I haven’t figured out how to download all the files using CPanel, so I may have to hunt around for an ftp program to nab those off the server for safe-keeping on our external LaCie HD.
I am most anxious to check out the comment-spam features… I’ll be back with another update.
Two problems… the comment blacklist results in an error and comments are broken. I’m researching all this… I hate broken wordpress…
UPDATE 2: February 22, 2005 10:10 a.m.
I also just noticed that the author of the post does not appear anywhere in this “theme.” Templates are out, themes are in… gotta learn how this theme thing works…
It feels funny to buy a highchair for a half-baked bun in the oven who won’t even be big enough to need it until at least after Christmas 2005, but we already have one. I have been looking for The Perfect Baby Gear in all the Land, and was surprised to come upon this high chair with my sister-in-law at a second hand store, only it is brand new. She bought one for her baby daughter and I thought I would ask her how she likes it now that she has been using it for a few months. RAVE REVIEWS! She likes that the back pulls off and can be thrown in the wash. The seats are vinyl with no holes to catch food and rot and mold and wipe clean with a sponge. And the top is dishwasher safe. Sounds like this puppy can get cleaned. It also folds flat and is small enough to travel should we ever need that feature in a highchair.
AND
There better be a kid in my belly because the crib will be on its way March 7th. You can see the crib in the previous blog entry. We will have the AmyCoe Litte Red Barn One Acre Farm 2004 bedding with the crib. I ordered it online tonight… so exciting!
Here is the crib we have picked and will be ordering soon:
And here is my 19 week belly:
David and I are going to Plano this weekend to visit the other Barneses and help retile a bathroom for his mom’s birthday present.
I thought I would post an update this morning since I am wide awake. I think my sick as a dog is more like allergic to mold. Didn’t have allergies until this year. Looks like Austin is the allergy captiol of the PLANET. Golly! I gave Dave a claritin and if it helps him, I’ll take one since it is one of the few meds on the “safe list” my doctor gave me.
I have been having sharp round-ligament pains while adjusting my sleeping position in bed. They haven’t bothered me much, but this morning I had a doozey of a pain on my right side as I tried to get up to cough. Woah! It felt like my insides were coming loose.
Yesterday I got my first, “Is that what I think it is?” comment while the person was checking out my middle. So, not exactly a “When are you due?” comment, but getting closer. I may not look pregnant to the world, but I sure notice the difference.
My appetite has become ferocious… which reminds me, I haven’t eaten breakfast yet. I’ll try to tell more stories with this journal instead of random thoughts like this morning’s post. Just wanted anyone reading this to know that I’m still alive after this horrible past weekend.
We got back from TMEA in San Antonio yesterday. It was really good to see some of the Roma kids we had taught 3-4 years ago doing so well with their music. David was under the weather the whole time. We were sure it must’ve been the flu since I had been given a flu vaccine… but this morning I woke up to a severe sore throat (feels like ragweed allergies on the comeback but it’s the wrong season for that) and now, after eating a banana, an upset stomache. ICK. I feel like I’m not going to be able to keep this banana down for much longer.
Please pray that this doesn’t last long and that the “safe” medicines that the Dr. recommends do their job. Thanks!<
