Shannon’s Baby Shower

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

Today I am driving to Duncanville with my mom to attend Shannon’s baby shower. Shannon is due 3 weeks before us, and I haven’t seen her since before our pregnancies. I don’t know who else will be there that I will know (besides Ashley, who is throwing the shower for Shannon) but I hope that there is at least one other Baylor girl there to catch up with. Shannon, being the center of attention, won’t have a lot of time to chat, I’m sure.

Oh, and you know I will have pictures to share in a few days.

Thursday evening

Friday, April 29th, 2005

We had the wonderful honor of hanging out with a great bunch of people from church last night. Val decided to throw a “God Party,” inspired by Sunday’s sermon. We put all our praises in a bowl and passed the bowl around the room and read each others’ praises to share in the joy of God’s work in our lives. Our praises for the evening were the baby, of course, and how God provided a means for us to be credit-card debt free this month.

We moved the gathering outside for some snacks and finished the evening with a game.

Frustrated with CRWs

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

Every picture I shoot in RAW mode and open in photoshop and save as a JPEG and upload to flickr does not have any exif data. I mean, I can access the “file info” in photoshop still, but forget about flickr being able to read the exif data. I don’t know why this is so frustrating to me. I searched Mark’s site because I remember him having similiar problems but the macintosh category on Adobe’s Download pages for Camera RAW Updates doesn’t seem to help me as much, at least according to the descriptions of cameras supported goes… … grrrrr… I will get to the bottom of this, one way or another.

Mark has a post which I think is similiar to what I am just now discovering. Hopefully he can teach me what I need to do to become less frustrated about this whole issue.

UPDATE: Dave got tired of his emotional wife getting frustrated with the whole deal, so he rescued me last night and fixed everything. I guess the pregnancy hormones were just a little overwhelming last night. Thanks Dave! Thanks, Mark, for the fix!

Naptime

Last night I spent the evening asleep in the arms of the recliner. I wanted to say I spent the evening in the arms of Marty but that just doesn’t sound right.

Becky’s Masters Recital

Jen & Becky, uploaded by davejenbarnes.

Saturday was Becky’s Masters Recital for her Horn Performance Masters Degree from UT. She’s been working on her masters for a couple of years now and this recital was her time to shine. The music was fantastic. Becky has some kinda powerful awesome horn abilities. Mad skillz.

AMAZING JOB, Becky!

Got the new Maps!!! More to come…

I’m okay & Marty comes home

Sunday, April 24th, 2005

I had a really good chat with my friend Becky tonight… one where I was able to nail down what this pregnancy is doing to me, emotionally. Here’s what I had to say:

I have never been so full of joy and terror at the same time. Never so blissfully happy and scared spitless simultaneously. Those two extremes do not get along very well with each other in my heart all the time. I mean here I am sobbing and smiling. It’s soooo strange.

So I have been doing a lot of crying myself to sleep lately but never quite able to tell David why. I know I’ve worried him, but I’m okay. I really am.

We bought Marty the La-Z-Boy recliner today. My parents drove down and rescued ‘em from the storage room of our local La-Z-Boy gallery this afternoon and David set ‘em up in the nursery where I know a lot of rocking will be occurring over the next year. Sometime soon I will decide the best arrangement for all the furniture going in there… we’re down to only one piece left to get: a dressing table from my mom and dad’s house that match my great-grandmother’s bed and dresser that are already in the baby’s room.

in the convenience of our own home

Friday, April 22nd, 2005

As mentioned earlier, my mom was down on Wednesday. As you can predict, we ended up at BRU where she found a Prenatal Heart Listener. I must admit, I thought she was crazy.

But it works.

We tried it on Wednesday with no luck… just hungry Jen sounds… then yesterday I had the washing machine going and that was just about all I could hear from my belly. Strange when you think of it… the washing machine sounds emenating from my body. Well, today I had the room absolutely quiet and … I found it! I actually heard the baby’s heartbeat for about 5 minutes! Dave came home and got to hear it too!

I like that this is not a doppler. It’s a kind of stethoscope deal that amplifies the sounds it picks up and transmits them through a headset. Waay cool.

Thanks, mom K., for your generosity!
