Me. Jen. Cooking.
Monday, January 30th, 2006Ever try to keep up a teething 6.5 month old past his naptime on purpose? We are having lots of fun right now, let me tell you. We just got back from a long walk to get the mail and now he’s in his jumperoo.
My goal is to get him to sleep at 4:30 so I can start cooking. Yes, you read correctly, cooking. I never cook. Until today.
Me. Jen. Cooking.
We are taking our dear friends, the Walkers, dinner. They’re the ones that had triplets a week ago. I’ll be cooking Dave’s delicious medieval baked chicken with pan-fried German potatoes. The salad needs no cooking. And the cookies are already done. I tried to find a link… but couldn’t… they’re the cookie of the month from Jan 2006 Martha Stewart Living magazine. On the last page. They look like the hardest part of the meal but baking is not cooking. I can bake. I can’t cook.
The chicken recipe that we’re using can be found here and is THE MOST DELICIOUS Chicken I have ever put into my mouth. In fact, it might just have to be the Recipe of the Year for our 2006 Christmas Letter. It’s that good. And, I just noticed, it’s rated easy. Excellent.
I think we might just make it to the 4:30 goal. We might have a melt-down first, though.
UPDATE: As I was preheating the oven, it occured to me that I am technically baking the chicken, so it’s only the potatoes I’m worried about now. And James went to sleep precisely at 4:30 as planned.
UPDATE: We just got done eating (I cooked for 4 people) and it was just as yummy as when David cooks it. Yay! I didn’t burn the apartment building down!
