living here

A young couple moved into the other half of our duplex last November. We’ve observed them advance through the stages of just having gotten out of college (new truck, then one weekend a shiny new yellow crotch rocket, ah, I mean sportbike, then we noticed they must have bought new components for their entertainment center because the surround sound started shaking our center wall)… and they recently even had a baby, though I never once saw the young woman with a belly. I’m not a spy, I promise.

We’ve deduced by the pattern of bass rumblings and cheers coming through the center wall of our duplex that the young couple who lives next door and just had a baby also just obtained guitar hero. Probably for xbox as David has had controller interference since they moved in last November. I don’t mind the bass as it adds a nice ambient background noise which tends to lull Lowell and me to sleep but common sense would tell them that they live in a duplex and should be courteous after, say, about 11 p.m. At least voices don’t seem to travel through the center wall very easily.

In other news, David and I finally made the decision to buy a house, though it will be in a year and we will be staying here in our current duplex for the 11 month renewal period that our craptastic management has offered us. Anyone with any desire whatsoever to pass on some advice, please add a comment or an email our way. I am both thrilled and scared about this decision and want to make the wisest choices possible for our family and I currently have no idea how to do that. If you’re family, we’ll be emailing asking questions over the next year, so be prepared.

Just getting around to reading blogs. There’s a book called “How to get the best home loan” by W. Frazier Bell. It has lots of valuable information about the home loan process and takes a lot of the mystery out of things. I found it to be tremendously helpful when during my home purchase process. If you have questions or anything, I’d be happy to try and answer them!
