Lowell, my little shrimp

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

14 pounds even, 25.75 inches long, 25th percentile, 4 months old.

I guess I should add that he’s falling behind in the milestones he should have reached by now. For one, he should already be rolling over and two, he should be able to hold up his upper body with his arms straight when on his tummy. Phooey is what I say to those. I know exactly why he can’t do them and I, frankly, don’t care. He cannot do those two things because we are always holding him and he’s nearly always swaddled. I am sure he will catch up as the need to swaddle decreases and as James learns to be more careful around the baby.  Sometimes I think the pediatricians at one point sat around and came up with all of these things just to make another way to cause anxiety in young parents.  Well, it isn’t working for us this time.

The Night

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Tonight is Lowell’s first night in his own room. James is at Grandma and Grandpa’s house so we don’t feel totally bad about the screaming and crying that is happening (yes, already, it’s only been 10 minutes and we already have screaming) at least, in that it won’t wake up a toddler tonight. My old night time routine that I had with James SO doesn’t work with Lowell. craziness.

UPDATE:   Last night Lowell did great!  He was only up screaming twice that I heard so that means I only got up twice!  1:45 am and 5:45 am… I wish that meant I got a 4 hour stretch of sleep but since he was screaming he was much more wide awake than having him in our room when I’d catch him in the sleeping but grunting stage pre-wakey so the feedings lasted like 45 min. as I had to get him back to sleep as well.  so I only got sleep from 2:30-5:45…  I couldn’t sleep before the first wake-up because I was so stinking worried about him.  I’m exhausted even though David took care of the morning fussies and let me sleep in another hour and a half.  I need to go to bed whenever Lowell does.  That’s the only way this will work.

just for the record

not that it’s any big news, but since I’m not scrapbooking for the boys I want to note this someplace and here is as good as any

Lowell started grabbing his feet today at 114 days of age.  It is very cute.
