A Long Day Indeed

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Sounds like today is going to be a tragedy, too.  Yesterday Lowell couldn’t/wouldn’t stop crying.  This morning, it’s James; crying to the point of not being able to breathe.  And when we’re supposed to be leaving for church.  *sigh*  If we didn’t have the sweet moments, sometimes it just doesn’t seem like it’s worth it.

Just a warning…

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Don’t expect much from us in the way of pictures of the boys dressed up as anything in a month.  James is very against putting on anything other than a tee shirt and his “soft shorts” that he gets to pick out.  Lowell will probably fit into the little ninja costume that we have leftover from 2 years ago, but I’m not going to push it.  I’m not one to force the boys to do anything that they do not want to do, like dressing up.  Hey, it’s cheaper not having to buy/make costumes, and David and I don’t like dressing up as something that we’re not, honestly, so I don’t feel like pushing the issue.

We do have plans, however, to paint up my tummy as a pumpkin, or an eyeball, or maybe a pokemon ball (in honor of Tait and Ransom) or something equally as round.  We’ve started a small stash of candy and will be up late that night for the neighborhood kids, but we won’t go all out with dressing up and that.  There’s plenty of time later in their little lives to do that sort of thing, and maybe later they’ll be into something you can actually dress up as.  I don’t think it would be very easy for James to dress up as a parking lot, or Lightening McQueen, or a LETTER of the alphabet, or HEB (and he’s not big enough to fit into the HEBuddy costume) right now.

A long overdue family picture.

We were at the LISD Festival of Bands tonight and I happened to have my brother’s wide-angle on the 300D so I snapped a quick picture of us.  I’m so glad it was actually in focus, even though David does appear to have a tiny little man growing out of his shoulder!

September 11th for us means…

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

…happy birthday Mom K and Dad B!  We will always remember this day as your birthdays because we are so glad to have you both (without you, there would be no us).  Sorry we’re late, but we did remember you both today.

I can still smell the new baby smell…

We’re back in Texas, and though I loved visiting family, I have to admit I had a tingle go through my body when we crossed back over into Texas… just so glad to be back in my home state, even a state that the first thing you see when you cross the Red River is an x-rated video store.  (grumble grumble)  BUT that’s another post…

We went up to Oklahoma for a quick visit to see our new niece!  Isn’t she just precious?!  And our baby loved kicking Olivia whenever I was getting my new niece snuggles, so I am sure they’ll grow up to be great buddies.  David took a few pictures of me, so you actually get to see me on my blog for once.

Babies babies babies

I’m glad God is putting all these tiny new people in my life.  I started off not wanting to be pregnant back in April when we found out but now I am getting very excited to meet our own little Barnes in December.  (And all the newest babies have been girls so far… makes me wonder…)  Oh how I wish I could hold Olivia!

My sister-in-law emailed us some pics.  So, yay!, I get to be a doting Aunt from afar.  I’ll go ahead and express that I think she is beautiful and bigger than I expected!  Here are some more pictures of my new niece, Olivia.

Personal note — I find it neat, seeing pictures of a baby with a pacifier because Lowell only ever took one ONCE (at his circumcision) and it just isn’t in my set of recent mommy memories.  I wonder if this next one will take one or if we’ll even let him/her have one… I’m beginning to wonder a lot of things about this baby in my tummy… If this baby is a girl, she is gonna be left out of a lot of great girl-cousin times, especially with Olivia being only 4 months older.  Maybe we should move to Oklahoma…
