Lowell, today

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

My friend Becky and I used to notice that our husbands both played video games with their mouths hanging open.  Maybe it has nothing to do with actually playing the video game and more to do with watching the video game?  Case in point.  Lowell does not play video games but he has the mouth thing DOWN.

note: this was right after bathtime, hence the hair and lack of clothing

While all our playgroup kids are in daycare/mothers-day-out/preschool on Tuesdays now, this is one thing we have found that is tons of fun and usually completely void of others:

birth story

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Being pregnant again has gotten me thinking about the coming birth. I wanted to record Lowell’s… and I’m thinking of making an entire memory book out of the jungle george freebie kit by Andrea. It probably isn’t very creative of me to use only one kit (plus random other elements) for an entire book but I am really in love with these papers, colors, and polka-dots. For now, I’m also using others’ templates but I think that will help things speed along a bit. I think the whole book will be about Lowell’s arrival and first few days/weeks. There are simply too many precious pictures to skip from his birth to now without covering every little bit. Maybe I’ll never finish… who knows… this is quite addictive.

Now I need to go clean my kitchen, since I just “close all” in photoshop and the “mess” is gone.

edited to add — one more!  (I didn’t stick to the jungle george kit afterall…) I’m on a roll!  This is Lowell’s weigh-in.  So much more gentle than plopping the baby on a sterile cold metal scale.  He was soooo fussy before we weighed him but being wrapped in that sling fabric calmed him down like magic.  It was amazing!  Everything was amazing, loving, and gentle about the birthing center.  I wonder now why hospitals have to make everything so cold.  I can’t wait to have another baby at the birthing center!!!

weighing, old school style

as always, click on the picture for the credits — there are a bunch of them in this one.

one more before I call it a night

I’m picturing this as a cover to a scrapbook for Lowell. A lot of my friends do their pages chronologically. I don’t know how well that will work for me, but here is my attempt at starting at the beginning, of something, for once.

School’s in, and you know what that means!

That means that all the parks and splash parks and pools are void of preteens running rampant once again.  I took the boys to the splash park across the street from our neighborhood (just far enough away not to be walkable) two days in a row and actually remembered to take a camera with us this morning.  I’m sure I would have gotten great pictures yesterday as they did more playing and less hanging on momma, but I did manage to get some of James that I like.  Lowell wasn’t into being photographed and always had his back to me…

And I think he looks like he has wings here…

You’d never be able to tell that we have storms in the weather forecast for today.
